For consideration:

     Yes, it is true Alexander Downer told me not to run for preselection in Mayo. And yes, it is true he said I was ‘not the sort of person the electorate was looking for’.
     Naturally I asked him what sort of person he thought the electorate was looking for and he replied: ‘Someone I approve of.’
